What to expect and how to arrive feeling ready.
Your first float
What is float therapy?+
Float therapy gives you a quiet, private space to rest in warm, highly buoyant water. The water supports your body without effort while everyday sensory input is reduced.
Why do you recommend starting with three floats?+
The first session introduces the environment. The second often feels more familiar, and the third gives you a better sense of how floating can fit into your routine. The new-customer starter pack includes three 60-minute floats for £120 to use within 5–6 weeks.
What happens on my first visit?+
We welcome you, explain the private room and pod controls, and answer your questions. You shower before the float, enjoy your session, shower again afterwards, then take a little time to re-enter the day.
What should I bring?+
Just bring yourself. Your private room includes a shower, towels, earplugs and the essentials you need before and after your float.
How should I prepare?+
Eat lightly around 60–90 minutes beforehand, avoid a large amount of caffeine, and try not to shave on the day because salt water can irritate freshly shaved skin.
Do I need to know how to swim?+
No. The water is shallow and contains enough Epsom salt to support you at the surface. You do not need to swim or make any effort to stay afloat.
Should I remove contact lenses?+
Yes. Remove contact lenses before showering and floating, and bring a lens case or glasses for afterwards.
Can I float with recently dyed hair?+
Hair colour must no longer run when wet. If your hair has been dyed recently or you are unsure, contact the centre before booking.
The pod, privacy and the choices you keep throughout.
Comfort and control
What if I feel claustrophobic?+
You remain in control throughout. The Orbit pod is spacious and you can keep the lid open, change the light and use music. The team will show you every control before you begin.
Can I keep the lid open or the light on?+
Yes. You can float with the lid fully open, partly open or closed, and you decide whether to keep the internal light or music on. There is no correct way to float.
Is the room private?+
Yes. Every float takes place in your own private room with its own pod and shower. Once the introduction is complete, the room is yours for the session.
How long is a session?+
FLOAT ONE offers 60, 90 and 120-minute float sessions, with time before and after to shower and settle in. The new-customer starter pack contains three 60-minute sessions.
What if I fall asleep?+
Falling asleep can happen and the highly buoyant water continues to support you. Music or light signals the end of the session, and the team explains the finish sequence before you begin.
Do you offer a Couples Float?+
Yes. The Couples Float is a shared experience for two people in the same spacious Orbit pod and private room. Contact the team or check the booking options to arrange your shared session.
What if I need help getting in or out of the pod?+
Contact the centre before booking so the team can explain the pod access and discuss what support may be suitable for your visit.
Practical guidance for a comfortable, responsible visit.
Hygiene and wellbeing
How is the pod cleaned?+
The water is filtered after every session, and the pod and private room are cleaned and prepared between appointments.
Can I float during my period?+
Yes, provided you use a suitable menstrual product just as you would when swimming. Contact the team privately if you have any questions before your visit.
What about small cuts or sensitive skin?+
Salt water can sting small cuts and grazes. FLOAT ONE provides single-use sachets of Vaseline that you can apply before floating to create a protective barrier over minor cuts. Postpone your session if you have an open or infected wound, and contact the centre if you are unsure.
Can I float while pregnant or after giving birth?+
Many pregnant clients, particularly in the third trimester, find the weightless support soothing and value the quiet time to connect with their baby. Post-partum floating is also popular once bleeding has stopped and any wounds or incisions have fully healed. Pregnancy and recovery are individual, so ask your midwife, doctor or other qualified clinician whether floating is appropriate for you, then contact the centre before booking.
Can I float with a medical condition?+
Many people with medical conditions can float, but individual circumstances vary. Ask your doctor or another qualified clinician whether floating is appropriate for you, then contact the centre before booking so the team can discuss access and the practical details of your visit.
When should I postpone my visit?+
Do not attend if you are unwell, have a contagious condition, an open or infected wound, or are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Contact the centre if you are uncertain.
Credits, packages, appointments and what comes next.
Buying and booking
How do I use the starter pack?+
Buy the package first through the secure store. Three service credits are added to your account, then you choose appointments through the live booking calendar. It is a one-off purchase, not a subscription.
Can I buy a single float or a float and sauna package?+
Yes. Pay-as-you-go service credits and combined float and infrared sauna packages are available. The three-float starter pack remains the recommended first step for new customers.
I already have credits. How do I book quickly?+
Open the live schedule, sign in to your FLOAT ONE account and choose the available appointment that suits you. The Book Now buttons across the site take returning customers straight there.
Do you offer gift cards?+
Yes. Online e-vouchers are available for specific FLOAT ONE services rather than cash values. Physical gift cards are available in the centre. Gift vouchers expire one year from purchase and are non-refundable.
What happens after the starter pack?+
If floating is helping, choose a monthly, fortnightly or weekly membership rhythm. Membership renews monthly with a three-month minimum initial term. Unused sessions carry forward, and after the initial term it continues monthly until cancelled.
What if I need to change or cancel my appointment?+
Email the centre at least 24 hours before your appointment to reschedule. Missed appointments are non-refundable, and a no-show booked from a package uses one session credit.
What if I am late?+
Tell the centre as soon as you can. The appointment must still finish at the scheduled time, so a late arrival reduces the time available for your session.
Where are you, and is parking available?+
FLOAT ONE is at Unit 22, Roadway 1, Morris Park, 37 Rosyth Road, Glasgow G5 0YD. Free on-site parking is available.
How the private sauna works on its own or with a float.
Infrared sauna
Is the infrared sauna private?+
Yes. The infrared sauna is in a private room, and you can set the heat, lighting and audio to suit your visit.
How is infrared sauna different from a traditional sauna?+
Infrared heat warms the body directly at a lower surrounding air temperature than many traditional saunas. The experience is gradual, private and individually controlled.
Can I combine a float and sauna?+
Yes. FLOAT ONE offers service packages that combine infrared sauna and float sessions. Purchase the relevant package or credits first, then schedule the appointments in your account.
When should I seek advice before using the sauna?+
Seek advice from a qualified clinician before using infrared sauna if you are pregnant, unwell, sensitive to heat, or have a heart, blood-pressure or other relevant medical condition. Contact the centre if you are unsure.
