People use both “float tank” and “float pod” when searching for a first float in Glasgow. At FLOAT ONE, each private float room has a spacious Orbit pod, its own shower and controls you can adjust throughout the session.
Float tank and float pod: the useful difference is your choice
The names describe the float environment rather than a different outcome. The important practical details are that you have a private room, warm Epsom-salt water that supports you, and choices over the lid, light and music.
The lid does not need to close
You can leave the lid fully open, partly open or closed. You can also keep the internal light on. There is no advantage in forcing yourself into darkness or silence before you feel ready.
You control light and sound
Soft lighting and music can help the first few minutes feel familiar. You may change the settings as you settle, or keep them throughout the float. Staff explain the controls before leaving you in privacy.
Why the water supports you
A concentrated Epsom-salt solution increases buoyancy, so you float without needing to tread water or hold a position. The water is kept close to skin temperature to reduce obvious temperature contrast rather than to create a hot-water experience.
How the room is prepared
Each guest has a private room and showers before and after the float. The solution passes through the centre’s filtration and treatment process between sessions, and the room is reset with fresh towels and essentials.
Your first visit is guided
The team shows you the room, explains the pod and answers questions before your session begins. If you are uncertain about comfort, mobility, skin conditions or another practical issue, contact FLOAT ONE before booking.
